My degree My Country My world




             I’m a student of Sri Lanka Rajarata University, Faculty of applied sciences. It also responded to the ever increasing demand for IT professionals by the ICT industry by introducing B.Sc, in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) degree program in 2007 which is now in it’s 10th batch. Initially there were eight students in first batch(2005/2006). Currently the intake has been increased up to 90.

                                This ICT degree allows students from various A/L streams (Mathematics, Bio science, Art, Commerce) to enroll for the program provided they fulfill the entry requirements. Students enrolling ICT degree program will obtain a 3 year Bachelor of Science in Information and communication technology (B.Sc. In ICT) or a 4 year Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication technology. Littel number of students would be chosen for the 4 year degree program at the end of year 3 based on their performance within the degree program and preference.

         ICT has a huge range of functions in education such as; communication, learning tools, administration, information sources and distance learning. ICT or IT is all around us. We as individuals relies on IT solutions to make our lives easier and productive. Most organization in the world cannot survive without IT as entire systems are dependent on it. It’s a fast space and fast growing industry with the normest growing potential with their right skills and the experience. Sri Lankan  IT professionals has introduced many innovative  products and solutions. For number of reputed service provided in various sectors in Sri Lankan and International markets. That’s why based within the country these IT brains have one global recognition for their versatility and capability.

              Sir Lankan innovation includes ERP Software , Mobile Computing Systems, Trading systems , E-Commerce Platforms and even En Government solutions. Over the past two decades Sir Lankan has built  a reputation for domesticated high Tec IT innovation. Sri Lankan Software is widely in use some meeting grand names and keep Business sectors a cross the world. There are many more local innovation in the pipeline. I’m hope to be the part of all these. I’m join with it and change the world. I love my degree. I want to be a Software engineer for create new devices to make my country, world better place.

During these three years I have to learn many subjects. Some of them are Web technology, Internet programming, Software engineering etc. In my degree program I’m allowing to learn not only ICT related subjects, but also subjects like Marketing, Professional English which are related to other fields. Actually it is a good guidance to my future life. In Sri Lanka, there are so many IT companies that we can give our service and get a high salary such as Millennium IT, WSO2, Vertusa Polaris.
