My Degree, My Country and My World

A degree. The degree. Degree in. Words that you and I have heard and will continue to hear as our lives go on and on. An award given to a person based on completion of a series of requirements is what degree is but, is it really ? Mine is a Bsc in Applied Sciences where I am following maths, physics and computer science as my subjects of interest and trying to complete the requirements needed to get my degree as soon as possible.
Why do I need a degree ? Cause everyone has one today ? Easy to get a job ? For fun ? The main purpose of getting yourself a degree is to get your self a good job easily by doing all the hard work back in the university for your degree. But then again if everyone today has one won't it be a competition to get a job ? So you have to work harder in your degree to profit from it.
According to my science combination it won't be easy. But is it just the job we seek ? Isn't there something other than a job? A degree holder is an asset to a country. An investment done right if it profits to the country. Therefore a degree holder's main duty should be to serve his country. Help it to be better. As an undergraduate my degree must contribute for a day that I could be proud of where my nation is at. I should be able to use the maths and physics I learned and become a scientist who discovers new technologies, innovates, advises and passes my knowledge to the next generations to come. To help build a country. I could also use the experience I gathered in the university to help people with tasks. To teach children because a degree is not just what I read in books or listen from a lecturer. There is much more, the effort, courage, strength and motivation can help inspire many to chase their dreams. And prosper our country.
The degree will be just a piece of jewelry I wear on the work that built me. And I will help to build a country. When countries collapse other countries do watch and learn and as well they learn when one rises too. When I stand many will rise beside me. When many rise, the country will rise. When a country rises others will rise. A world will be recreated on top of the degree holders and the others who were aspired. And it will prospers for a millennia. It should not be the degree that did it but the man or woman it built. That is how my degree should end as well as yours.
