                     MY DEGREE, MY COUNTRY AND MY WORLD

            I am a undergraduate student of faculty of applied sciences in Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. My degree is B.Sc. (Bio) degree. The students who followed biology, chemistry and physics for A/Ls are allow to follow this degree. This degree program will obtain 3 year B.Sc. (General) degree or a 4 year B.Sc. (Joint major) degree. Also the special degree, B.Sc. (Special) degree will obtain 4 years. The students who have enough GPA are allow to follow the special degree.
            Applied science is a discipline that is used to apply existing scientific knowledge to develop more practical applications, for example: technology or inventions. In natural science, basic science (or pure science) is used to develop information to explain phenomena in the natural world.
             There are different branches in applied science; ecology, oceanography, geology, metrology, zoology, human biology and botany.
             There are many job opportunities for applied science biology. Some of them are taxonomist, lab technician, teacher, micro biologist, lecturer, scientist, chemists in hospitals,….etc. Taxonomist are help to find the victims of the murders, the place of the crime and prevent the illegal material export out of the country. Scientists are using the knowledge that they got during their degree programme, about the environment including animal, plants, environmental factors, interaction between living and non-living things for their researches. Like vise there are many examples for the job opportunities for our degree.
            This degree supplies important applicable subject matters needed in todays world. This is because during our degree upmost time is given for the practical session. Today there is a good market for the people who have the degree in chemistry side. As a developing country Sri Lankan chemistry graduates have many job opportunities in industry side, in our country and also in abroad. Sri Lankan graduates have huge demand across the world.
             I also want to become a government officer in biological side and serve the country. If I had a opportunity to go to the abroad I want to study further about the biological side

During these three years I have to learn many subjects. Some of them are Web technology, Internet programming, Software engineering etc. In my degree program I’m allowing to learn not only ICT related subjects, but also subjects like Marketing, Professional English which are related to other fields. Actually it is a good guidance to my future life. In Sri Lanka, there are so many IT companies that we can give our service and get a high salary such as Millennium IT, WSO2, Vertusa Polaris.
