My Degree My Country and My World



  A degree is considered as a valid qualification to begin a professional career in this society. So degree programs have been designed to give enough knowledge to start a professional carrier by universities in whole over the world. There is a big competition in Sri Lanka for university entrance due to lack of Government Universities.
I was lucky enough to obtain that opportunity to follow a degree program in a Sri Lankan Government University. I am following BSc information and communication technology degree offered by Rajarata University of Sri Lanka.ICT is one of rapidly growing industries in the world due to its collaboration to almost every industry in the world in order to achieve their goals effectively and efficiently. Therefore ICT graduates are well paid whole over the world.
Sri Lanka has established a good IT industry by now giving emerging job opportunities to Sri Lankan youth. There are many well established IT companies in sri lanka such as virtusa,mit,wso2.I have witnessed that degree holders of my course are in good positions in IT sector as well as other sectors in Sri Lanka. As Sri Lanka’s literacy is at a good level, almost every part of Sri Lanka tends to get the use of ICT to ease off their day to day work. Therefore we have the capability of getting variety of jobs whole over the country as well as demanding it positions like software engineers, database administrators, QA engineers. Even IT diplomas or some other IT courses give so chances for good job opportunities that nowadays the situation is built up not to bother about jobs for a ICT degree holder.
We have good opportunities in abroad as Sri Lankan UGC approved degrees are recognized worldwide. There are no restrictions to engage in foreign jobs because IT field is considering the talents rather than certificates. So I can assure that my degree, my country enlighten my world.

During these three years I have to learn many subjects. Some of them are Web technology, Internet programming, Software engineering etc. In my degree program I’m allowing to learn not only ICT related subjects, but also subjects like Marketing, Professional English which are related to other fields.
