My Degree My Country and My World



    The degree of BSc. Health Promotion which I followed in Rajarata University is the one of the degree program in Sri Lanka and also South Asia. This degree is different from other degrees, because students have greater opportunity to doing field works during academic period in different settings such as villages, schools, army camp, and AG offices. So, it is very interesting and also we can do a greater service to our society and also country.

    In that, health promotion approach is used to improve quality of lives of people in community .The special thing of that process, empower people to improve their own health. We work to overcome many health problems in community such as malnutrition among under 5 age children, risk of non-communicable diseases among elders, early child care development, high consumption of tobacco, and alcohol in community, poor family wellbeing, sexual wellbeing and etc. That can be reasons to increase the life expectancy of people in community at least 5 years, and their happiness level, become intelligent children to country, prevent teenage pregnancy, avoid form tobacco, alcohol and so many things.so, I am really happy about these. Not only that can get lots of experiences and also learn many things which important to my life in different people in community.

    I am happy to select this degree than any other degrees, because I feel I  am doing greater service to people in community in last two years period in university than my early 21 years. Sometimes if I’m be a doctor I couldn’t do this service. After the degree I have experience to do a job in any sectors than other degree graduates, I proud to my degree and also hope to do a best of my service to my country as a health promoter.

It is generally a three year degree program and, if any student wish to follow four year special degree that student can follow it according to their GPA value. During these three years I have to learn many subjects. Some of them are Web technology, Internet programming, Software engineering etc. In my degree program I’m allowing to learn not only ICT related subjects, but also subjects like Marketing, Professional English which are related to other fields. Actually it is a good guidance to my future life. In Sri Lanka, there are so many IT companies that we can give our service and get a high salary such as Millennium IT, WSO2, Vertusa Polaris.
