My Degree , My Country and My World
            
                     From my childhood I'm interested in IT field. What I mean is I wanted to increase my knowledge in IT field. But I didn't get any proper chance for that. Now I'm following Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology in Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. I joined in this degree program on 11th of January 2016.  When I got the letter which conformed that I was selected for BSc in ICT degree program I was really excited. The truth is that when I was here for the first time I didn't have any advanced knowledge in IT field. I had only O/L ICT knowledge.

                       The undergraduates of this degree program are able to know about the streams the IT field have and the job opportunities are available. This degree program touches most of the important fields in IT. For an example we have Software Engineering, Networking, Programming, Web Development, and Image Processing. And also when it comes to programming concepts we study not only one programming language, but also many famous, leading languages too. (Java , C++ , C# and some more). And also this degree program contains some extra courses. I mean we have Philosophy of Science ,  Marketing , and English.

                       According to my view of point, degrees which are related to IT field are not going to be wasted. I mean that nowadays we can't see any firm which are not related with IT. Because modern technology has been inserted in every firm. When we consider about Sri Lanka, there are many job opportunities which are related to IT. We know that Sri Lanka is a developing country. Here every firms are depend on IT.

                      We can point out many examples. If we consider about schools, government has introduced the teaching method using latest technology. So in near future every teachers will be forced for get IT knowledge. Technology is used in hospitals too. Even business industries, like shops too use many programs which are developed by programs, software which are developed by software engineers and websites which are created by web designers.

                     When we think about the world, there are some countries which are considered as "developed countries". When we compare our country with those countries we know that we have to develop our country more. In this modern world IT is every thing. Even in medical field, engineering field, agriculture, business all are depend on IT. So we can say that those who has knowledge in It are more important to develop our country. I'm glad when I think that me too going to be a BSc in ICT degree holder because modern world is nothing without technology.

It is generally a three year degree program and, if any student wish to follow four year special degree that student can follow it according to their GPA value. During these three years I have to learn many subjects. Some of them are Web technology, Internet programming, Software engineering etc. In my degree program I’m allowing to learn not only ICT related subjects, but also subjects like Marketing, Professional English which are related to other fields. Actually it is a good guidance to my future life. In Sri Lanka, there are so many IT companies that we can give our service and get a high salary such as Millennium IT, WSO2, Vertusa Polaris.
